Intel and Qualcomm jack up processor prices

Intel and Qualcomm have raised processor prices for suppliers, while AMD is preparing increases that could add further pressure to PC costs.

According to TweakTown, Chipzilla has increased prices three times since late last year, with the latest adjustments taking effect on 1 September 2026.

High-end Panther Lake processors face reported increases of 15 to 20 per cent, giving their premium graphics tiles an appropriately premium financial sting. Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake increases reportedly range from five to 10 per cent, while selected Alder Lake and Twin Lake products face larger adjustments.

Those increases vary by product, and supplier pricing changes make the timing and size of any retail increases uncertain. Panther Lake combines an Intel 18A compute tile with a TSMC N3E graphics tile, which reportedly contributes to the steepest cost increases.

Qualcomm reportedly raised supplier prices for Snapdragon X and Snapdragon X2 Elite by about 10 per cent on 1 October 2026.

PC buyers already wrestling with expensive memory and graphics cards could face another bill, depending on how manufacturers handle their increased costs.

The dark satanic rumour mill has manufactured a hell on earth yarn that AMD is preparing CPU price adjustments, extending earlier reports of increases affecting other chip categories.

AMD relies on TSMC manufacturing across its processor range, including the forthcoming sixth-generation EPYC Venice chips built using the foundry’s 2nm process.
