IDF 2007: As Intel can do it
We were puzzled with Intel's
announcement and even the Executive VP Pat Gelsinger confirmed that
the Nehalem 8 core is a native design.
Fudzilla dug deeper into the story and learned
that Intel can do native any
variation of dual, quad or octo processor with its with Nehalem design.
It should not affect the yields either
and native eight core has a real good chance against AMD's upcoming Shanghai. Shanghai is made of two quad cores on a single chip in 45
nanometre and it comes later in 2008.
Intel already did the first testing
with this possible eight core design and as it has the best tools in
the world it has a chance to do it. I guess Intel is really upset and
wants to dominate the market and it doesn't leave much
chance for AMD's real recovery.
