But company grows
IBM is continuing to hire more staff even as it lays off 1,573 workers from its North American services business this week.
According to eCommerce Times, the much publicised lay-offs are covering a shift to outsourcing. Big Blue M in 2006 alone added some 19,000 employees around the world while it was getting rid of more expensive North American workers.
Yesterday IBM cut more than 1,500 additional jobs from its information technology services unit, the company said.
