AMD has pushed out new Windows chipset drivers with bug fixes and support for its Ryzen AI 400 processors.
Following a graphics driver that adds official Forza Horizon 6 support, AMD has released a new chipset driver for supported motherboards. Version 8.05.04.516 is now available for Windows 11 and Windows 10.
The release offers bug fixes and new driver support for the recently announced Ryzen AI 400 processors.
The changelog is not exactly War and Peace. AMD lists “Bug fixes included” and “New Program Support added,” which is driver-speak for something happened, but nobody is telling you much.
The AMD Ryzen Power Plan and AMD Processor Power Management Support driver has been updated to version 8.0.1.13, with bug fixes. The AMD GPIO2 Driver reaches version 2.2.0.137, while the AMD PSP Driver lands at version 5.44.0.0.
AMD’s PPM Provisioning File Driver is now version 8.0.0.62, again with bug fixes doing the vague little dance. The AMD PMF-8000 Series Driver is version 25.5.25.0 for Windows 10 and 26.10.9.0 for Windows 11.
The AMD HSMP Driver reaches version 1.0.0.7.
AMD’s PMF Ryzen AM MAX 300 Series Driver, PMF Ryzen AI 300 Series Driver and PMF Ryzen AI 300 Series Driver 2 are all version 26.10.9.0. The new AMD PMF Ryzen AI 400 Series Driver is version 26.10.9.0 and adds support for new drivers.
AMD says the release has a few known issues, some with workarounds for those who enjoy deleting folders to make computers behave. For example, some users had been moaning that after installing AMD Chipset Installer version 7.xx.xx.xx, they cannot install version 6.xx.xx.xx or earlier.
The workaround is to uninstall the newer AMD Chipset Installer, delete the “Qt_Dependencies” folder from “C:\Program Files (x86)\AMD\Chipset_Software\” and then install the older version.
AMD says some driver names may appear in English on non-English operating systems.
There is also a yellow bang in the AMS Mailbox driver on AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9000 Series processors with AMD WRX90, on Windows 10.
The driver is available for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems. It supports mobile and desktop Ryzen, Threadripper and seventh-gen A-Series processors.
