With new ROG Phone II Ultimate Edition
Asus took IFA 2019 show in Berlin by storm, unveiling a lot of new and upcoming products, including European launch of the ROG Phone II, a 2nd generation gaming smartphone which will get a special Ultimate Edition with a new color scheme, faster LTE, and more storage space.
The Asus ROG Phone II was announced back in July for China, and not a lot will change in terms of hardware for the European launch. It still features an incredible 6.59-inch 120Hz screen with 10-bit HDR OLED panel, 600-nits of brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on top of it.
It is still also powered by Qualcomm’s flagship 7nm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC with octa-core CPU and Adreno 640 GPU, as well as 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and a hefty 6,000mAh battery. You also get 4G LTE with Qualcomm’s X24 LTE modem for up to 1.2Gbps in the standard version, all the usual connectivity, and 48MP + 13MP (125° ultrawide-angle) rear main camera, 24MP front one, 30W ROG HyperCharge direct charging via USB-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, dual front-facing stereo speakers with DTS:X Ultra, and more.
The Ultimate Edition, which was announced at the IFA 2019 show for Europe, will have a new color scheme with Matte Black shell, and 1TB of UFS 3.0 storage, as opposed to 512GB on the standard version. It also comes with a new antenna system for 4G/LTE which boosts download speeds to CAT 20, or 2Gbps download with 4×4 MIMO antenna system.
According to Asus, the ROG Phone II Ultimate Edition will only be available from Asus’ online store in Q4 2019, with a price of €1200. Of course, the standard version is also coming to Europe this month and should cost around €900, depending on the region.
