All you have to lose is G-Sync tech
The $830 Alienware AW2524H is popular with gamers who have deep pockets and want 500 refreshes per second but now there is the new AW2524HF which does the same thing for $650.
The difference is that the AW2524HF swaps out the G-Sync tech for AMD’s platform-agnostic FreeSync. It is still pricey for a 24-inch, 1080p screen, but it still pumps out 500 frames per second and works with both AMD and Nvidia graphics cards.
Other charms of the hardware include a colour-accurate IPS panel with .5ms response time, DisplayPort 1.4 and double HDMI inputs, four USB 3.2 ports for gadgets and charging a spring-loaded headset hanger, and a hexagonal base designed specifically with an oddly angled keyboard in mind. A standard VESA mount is at the back. The AMD flavour of the monitor drops the RGB-illuminated rear logo but who really cares?
The Alienware AW2524HF will go on sale on Dell’s website on 12 September.
