Broadcom is developing and supplying custom artificial intelligence chips for Google and providing additional computing capacity to Anthropic as the trio deepens its strategic tie-up.
Under a supply assurance agreement, Broadcom will supply Google with custom Tensor Processing Units, networking, and other components for next-generation AI data centre racks through 2031.
Anthropic will get access to about 3.5 gigawatts of TPU-based computing capacity starting in 2027, as part of its broader commitment to multiple gigawatts of compute, Broadcom said.
Broadcom said that the expanded compute capacity is “dependent on Anthropic’s continued commercial success. In connection with this deployment, the parties are in discussions with certain operational and financial partners.”
The Wall Street Journal has reported that Google is trying to widen the market for its TPUs, and Broadcom has now signed up to keep the hardware coming for years.
