Gets big in the wireless trade
Cisco has bought WiMAX radio vendor, Navini Networks, for $330 million. The deal gives Cisco a large number of WiMAX base stations and modems and 70 of Navini's big telco customers.
Cisco wants to incorporate these products for both fixed and mobile WiMAX into a package with its Wi-Fi outdoor nodes and mesh gear.
Network World, quoting an unnamed Cisco executive, said that the company's intent was to create affordable broadband wireless access to worldwide telecommunications infrastructures.
