Due to high TDP projected for 2X Fermi
It looks
like that upcoming mainstream miracle chip simply codenamed GF104 is going to
find its place in Nvidia’s dual-chip card.
The card
that some roadmaps new as D12U-50 is internally canceled due to its too high
TDP. The Chinese roadmap claims that such a card should end up with whopping
375W TDP.
The new
dual-chip card based on two GF104, second generation Fermi chips should be coming
this year, most likely for back to school but we can only speculate on the
launch date.
According to
the same roadmap the GF104 based D12U-15 card branded as Geforce GTX 460 should
have a TDP of 150W, or some 25 percent less than the GF102 (Fermi) based GTX
465 that should come with a 200W TDP.
Until this
dual GF104 chip card launches, Radeon HD 5970 remains the fastest card around,
as well as the only dual-chip DirectX 11 card.
