Preview: The new control panel
We got our hands on the super new 158.16 drivers and we can confirm that there are some new features, but the performance is not that great. The driver is non WHQL beta and it is not stable at all times, but it works. It will increase the performance in 3Dmark03 by about twelve per cent and you can see a big jump in all game tests and multi texturing.
In 3Dmark05 you will gain some 500 points and you can clearly see that the driver does the multi texturing much faster. It is even 200 points faster in 3Dmark06 and you score some more in all tests, but nothing to be thrilled about. In OpenGL you lose a frame or two with or without FSAA and Aniso. In Fear you gain a frame or two here or there or you lose a bit and in Company or Heroes you win at 10×7 but lose in all other resolutions.
As you can see the driver has better control panel and finally you can easily find your way around.
