NetApp best place to work
NetApp
has taken Google's crown as best company to work for in 2009, according to an
annual Top 100 list published by Fortune Magazine.
For two years Google held
the Fortune title of "Best Company to Work For" after killing off a biotech
drug firm Genentech from number one. However Google has sunk to number four
beneath a brokerage outfit Edward Jones an a management consultancy called by
Boston Consulting.
The drops are almost certainly because of Google cost
cutting measures like the cancellation of an annual ski outing for the northern
California Internet giant's snow-loving employees.
NetApp has an for a
"legendary egalitarian culture" and down-to-earth management ethos and rather
than wasting times with things like business plans, employees draft "future
histories" describing their visions for coming years, according to
Fortune.
They get paid days for volunteer work, cash to supplement adopting
children and medical coverage for family members with autism.
