GTA 6 tipped for early PC arrival

Rockstar could bring Grand Theft Auto VI to PCs in early 2027, sparing players its customary extended sentence in the console waiting room.

According to GamesBeat  four industry sources familiar with Rockstar’s plans put the PC release in the first quarter of 2027. All requested anonymity to avoid damaging business relationships, while Rockstar did not respond to the publication’s request for comment.

The studio has announced no PC release date, leaving the proposed January-to-March window firmly in the category of unconfirmed plans.

The console version is scheduled for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, making the reported turnaround unusually quick.

Grand Theft Auto V reached consoles in September 2013, with PC players waiting until April 2015 for their version. Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a similar pattern, arriving on consoles in October 2018 and PCs in November 2019.

Take-Two chief executive Strauss Zelnick said in May that Rockstar “always starts on console” to serve its core audience first. During the same Bloomberg interview, he acknowledged that PCs can account for 45 to 50 per cent of sales on some titles.

A console-first launch would remain consistent with that position, although the reported PC timetable would substantially shorten the usual gap.

Online roleplaying could provide a commercial incentive, following Rockstar’s 2023 acquisition of Cfx.re, the development team behind the FiveM modification system. FiveM serves the PC version of GTA V, giving Rockstar an established community of players creating their own multiplayer experiences.

Rockstar has signalled plans for user-generated content tools in GTA VI, making an earlier PC launch potentially useful for that audience. GamesBeat presents this connection as a possible explanation, but Rockstar has not confirmed its PC release strategy.

The PC version would still need its own performance targets, system requirements and technical polishing before reaching buyers. Rockstar has not disclosed those details, so nobody can yet tell players how expensive their return to Vice City might become.

GTA VI originally had a 2025 release window, which Rockstar later moved to May 2026 and then to 19 November 2026.
