What's the Buzz
A Harvard Law School student has filed a class action lawsuit against
Google on behalf of Gmail users.
According to the Crimson, Eva Hibnick claims that Buzz discloses personal information without consent and
constitutes a breach of privacy. What has got her miffed is that Buzz allows users to “follow,” or track updates
posted by, their e-mail contacts. She said it was social notworking gone too
far.
Google has since changed to the program , but continues to be an “opt-out”
program, meaning that Gmail’s 31.2 million users are automatically signed up
until they choose to deactivate Buzz.
The lawsuit appears to be a bit of a homework project and is backed by to Law
School professor William B. Rubenstein, who specialises in class actions.
