Hetzner whacks prices again as memory costs bite

Hetzner is jacking up prices across its cloud, dedicated servers, storage and load balancers.

The German data centre operator said the hikes kick in on 1 April 2026 for new orders and existing subscriptions in Europe, the US and Singapore, blaming “drastic price increases in various areas in the IT sector.”

Hetzner Docs shows that some of the ugliest jumps are in Germany and Finland, where cloud server usage rises by 30-37 per cent, depending on tier. The CX23 entry box climbs from €2.99 to €3.99 a month, while Arm-based CAX instances take similar hits.

The CPX and CCX lines sit in the same ballpark, with CCX dedicated-vCPU cloud servers rising by about 30 per cent across the board in the United States.

Dedicated servers get smaller but still meaningful increases, with the EX44 moving from €42.30 to €47.30 a month in Germany. GPU pricing is sharper, as the GEX44 jumps from €182.30 to €212.30, while Server Auction listings take a flat three per cent rise.

Object storage base pricing goes from €4.99 to €6.49 a month, which is roughly a 30 per cent bump for something meant to be dull and cheap.

This is the second time this month that Hetzner has raised prices, after it hiked setup fees on 2 February due to “exceptionally high purchase prices for hardware components”.

This time, it pointed at rising infrastructure operating costs and pricier hardware, saying it had “genuinely tried hard to optimise” costs before pulling the trigger.

The wider mess sits in memory pricing, with DRAM surging about 171 per cent year on year through 2025 as AI buildouts guzzle high-bandwidth memory and squeeze commodity supply.

Samsung raised server memory contract prices by up to 60 per cent in the same stretch, and the Grey Box Shifter executives told investors about “unprecedented” shortages.

OVHcloud has separately projected 5 to 10 per cent increases between April and September 2026, but Hetzner’s numbers are steeper and land sooner.

Hetzner, founded in 1997 and based in Germany, runs data centres in Nuremberg, Falkenstein, Helsinki, Virginia and Oregon, giving customers about five weeks’ notice before bills change.
