HP has sued Acer for breaching five of its patents on
things such as read/write optical drives, power management in notebooks, and
digital bus arrangement.
The complaint was filed in the US District Court for the
Eastern District of Texas and will try to block Acer from selling computers in
the US.
HP has been getting increasingly litigious over its
patents particularly when they are breached by rivals. Last year, it settled a
similar lawsuit with Gateway.
