Intel and Nvidia plot Serpent Lake

Intel and Nvidia’s weird x86 love child could arrive in 2028 with RTX graphics baked into the package.

Chipzilla’s Serpent Lake SoCs, expected to feature Nvidia RTX GPU tiles as integrated graphics, are rumoured to roll out in the first quarter of 2028. Last year, Chipzilla announced it was working with Nvidia on a custom SoC using Nvidia RTX GPU tiles.

Chipzilla said the chips would power a wide range of PCs needing that level of CPU and GPU integration in a single package.

According to the dark satanic rumour mill, there now appears to be a timeline. According to Erdi Özüağ, the current Chipzilla roadmap targets the first quarter of 2028 for the new silicon.

If that date holds, an announcement could arrive as early as CES 2028, giving the usual laptop sticker circus something fresh to shout about.

There are no detailed specifications yet, but a chip mixing Chipzilla x86 CPUs with Nvidia RTX graphics would be a big deal for PCs. The chips would land in a market where both companies are already scrapping for AI PC attention with Panther Lake and RTX Spark.

Panther Lake is aimed at premium laptops, while RTX Spark targets high-end mobile workstations and professional PCs with a stronger AI focus. Recent rumours suggested Razer Lake-AX will be Chipzilla’s first SoC generation aimed at AMD’s Halo line-up.

Razer Lake is expected to follow Nova Lake, putting it somewhere around 2027 or 2028 if the roadmap gods behave.

However, the first Chipzilla SoC using an Nvidia GPU tile now appears to be later, arriving as Serpent Lake. Serpent Lake is expected to branch from Titan Lake CPUs and use a Halo-like SoC design.

Titan Lake is expected to succeed Razer Lake, with Hammer Lake following Titan Lake. Those chips are planned for 2028, but Serpent Lake stands apart as a different SoC with a rather unusual graphics arrangement.

It is unclear which configuration the Serpent Lake GPU tile will use, beyond claims that it is based on Nvidia RTX IP.

If the 2028 launch window is right, the SoC could use Nvidia’s Rubin GPU architecture. That would make Serpent Lake an interesting bit of silicon, and the first RTX-class GPU on a chip outside Nvidia’s own SoCs.
