Cheap brand to live on

Intel has denied a Digitimes report which stated that the chipmaker would kill off its mobile Celeron brand in 2011.

Intel spokesman Barry Sum told Computerworld that the company had no plans to phase out the Celeron brand in 2011 and that it would continue to offer Celeron products as a low cost computing solution for basic needs.

Digitimes claimed that Intel was planning to shelve the Celeron brand in favor of dual-core Atoms and low-end Core series processors and it cited Taiwanese notebook companies as its source. Unfortunately we carried the Digitimes report a few days ago and we’re sorry if the misinformation caused you any inconvenience.
