Intel launches Core Series 2 Processor with P-cores for Edge AI

Intel has launched its new Core Series 2 processors with P-cores aimed at edge applications at the Embedded World 2026. Intel also unveiled its latest Edge AI suite for Health & Life Sciences, which should supplement the new processors and focus on bringing AI to healthcare systems.

Packing up to twelve P-cores and 24-threads, and reaching 5.9GHz, Intel is promising up to 3.8x better performance, and thanks to better memory support, modern I/O, technologies, and an updated platform control hub, Intel is promising up to 2.5x better response time and up to 4.4x lower PCIe latency. In addition to featuring up to 12 P-cores with 24 threads and a 5.9 GHz clock, the new Core Series 2 processors with P-cores have a base power of up to 125W, support for up to 192GB of DDR5-5600 memory with ECC support, offer up to 16 PCIe Gen 5, 4x PCIe Gen 4, and support for up to four 4K displays. On the platform side, it gets up to 12x PCIe Gen 4 and up to 16x PCIe Gen 3, up to 14 USB 3.2 ports, and modern connectivity with WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and integrated 2.5GbE.

There are a total of eleven different SKUs, with TDP ranging from 125W to 45W, with 12-, 10-, and 8-core configurations, maximum turbo clocks reaching 5.9GHz, and anywhere from 24 to 36MB of cache, depending on the core configuration.

Intel also talked about the new Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processor for edge applications. Although launched back in January, the edge AI application brings plenty of advantages and improvements, offering higher TOPS, more GPU cores, better AI performance, and more. Intel also took a stab at NVIDIA’s own Jetson AGX Orin platform, comparing its performance to the Core Ultra X9 388H, or Qualcomm’s own 84-100 and AMD Ryzen AI 9 and Ryzen AI Max+ platforms.

The aforementioned Edge AI suite for Health & Life Sciences is aimed at bringing AI-enabled solutions to the healthcare system, showcasing AI-based electrocardiogram (ECG) arrhythmia detection, remote photoplethysmography, and anonymous 3D visual tracking.

“Intel continues to lead in edge computing, which remains one of our fastest-growing business segments,” said Dan Rodriguez, Intel corporate vice president and general manager of the Edge Computing Group. ” With the introduction of Core Series 2, our CES launch of Core Ultra Series 3, and our expanding Edge AI Suites, we continue to deliver comprehensive platforms that meet diverse edge customer needs with breakthrough performance, reliability, and integrated AI acceleration.”

According to Intel, edge systems and platforms powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 3 and Intel Core Series 2 with P- cores should start to be available as of now.
