Up to $130 per processor
The dark satanic rumour mill has manufactured a hell on earth yarn claiming that Intel is to slash the prices of its 12th Generation ‘Alder Lake’ Core processors.
Taiwan’s DigiTimes says that Intel will chop up to 20 per cent off Alder Lake CPUs for its PC partners in a bid to encourage orders/boost demand.
The cuts will affect both desktop and laptop CPUs and on top-tier products, the cuts could mean a price cut of up to $130 per processor.
Intel is holding uncharacteristically high inventories, with a particularly sharp rise seen in fourth quarter of 2022. Its customers are thought to be cutting their inventories to historically low levels so the suits at Intel must believe they will solve everyone’s problems if Alder Lake chips are 20 cheaper. This will help clear stocks of the old chips, even if it has angered partners who bought stocks ahead of the new year.
Another downside is that any possible sales bump in Alder Lake systems that could come at the expense of Raptor Lake.
