According to Micro Centre, Intel has shoved its Core Ultra 7 270K Plus below $200, making Arrow Lake look reasonable.
The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus is listed at $199.99, down from an original $349.99. Chipzilla’s chip is available for in-store pickup only, so this is not much use unless a shop is nearby.
Still, it is a sharp price drop for a 24-core desktop processor with eight performance cores and 16 efficiency cores. Micro Centre lists the Arrow Lake part with a 3.7 GHz base clock, 5.50 GHz turbo speed, and 24 processing threads. It comes on the LGA 1851 socket and supports Intel Z890, B860 and H810 boards.
The retailer says the chip has 40 MB of L2 cache and 36 MB of L3 cache. There is no heatsink in the box, so anyone grabbing one will need to sort out cooling.
Intel originally pitched the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus as part of its Core Ultra 200S Plus refresh. Chipzilla said the range added four efficiency cores to the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, bringing it to 24 cores in an 8P+16E layout.
That makes the sub-$200 price look aggressive for anyone building a gaming or productivity machine without selling a kidney. Micro Centre is running the chip as a limit-one-per-household deal, which usually means the retailer expects the usual bargain hunters.
The offer sits alongside a bundle that uses the same processor: a Gigabyte Z890 Eagle WiFi7 Plus motherboard and 32GB of Patriot Viper Venom DDR5-6000 memory. That bundle is listed at $599.99, although pricing and stock vary by store because Micro Centre likes making online shoppers suffer.
The deal makes Chipzilla’s latest desktop parts harder to ignore after months of Arrow Lake taking stick from gamers and reviewers. It does not magically fix the platform cost, the missing heatsink or the need for a new motherboard.
