Intel’s Nova Lake laptop flagship tipped for 28 cores

Intel’s next flagship laptop processor could pack 28 cores, according to a leak identifying two members of its Nova Lake mobile family.

Leaker Jaykihn names the Core Ultra 9 4995HX and Core Ultra 9 4970H, suggesting Chipzilla will split its priorities between CPU muscle and integrated graphics.

According to VideoCardz, the 4995HX reportedly combines eight Coyote Cove performance cores, 16 Arctic Wolf efficiency cores and four low-power efficiency cores, delivering 28 cores and 28 threads.

That would increase the core count from 24 on the Core Ultra 9 285HX and 290HX Plus. Its reported two Xe3 graphics cores suggest discrete GPUs will handle gaming.

The 4970H reportedly combines four performance cores, eight efficiency cores, and four low-power efficiency cores, for 16 cores and 16 threads. Its more interesting feature is a reported 12-core Xe3P integrated GPU, an architectural update from Panther Lake’s Xe3 graphics.

Chipzilla appears to have found room for more cores alongside its increasingly exhausting model numbers. Nova Lake laptops are expected in 2027. Clock speeds, final power limits, memory configurations and availability remain unconfirmed.
