Samsung showed up at Nvidia’s GTC 2026 developer conference booth with an HBM4 chip, which it had autographed by Nvidia’s chief executive, Jensen Huang.
Samsung wants a bigger slice of the high-bandwidth memory business feeding Nvidia’s AI accelerators. Huang scribbling on the display part is the sort of marketing oxygen the outfit needs right now.
As shared by @jukan05 on X, Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang wrote “Jensen Huang approved HBM!.” on Samsung’s HBM4 display chip. It is the familiar GTC routine of the boss wandering round, blessing partner hardware like a tech pope.
Those parts are the stuff Nvidia needs to keep cranking up accelerator specs every year. Samsung is betting that HBM4 is its clean reset after the previous generation turned into a quality-control slog.
Huang did the same autograph trick for Samsung’s HBM3e chips in 2024, but that generation struggled to clear Nvidia’s testing. SK Hynix ended up owning the supply story, while Samsung pivoted hard to HBM4.
Reports now claim Samsung has about 30 per cent of Nvidia’s HBM4 supply. Samsung is aiming for 85 per cent yields by the end of this year, and the company will be waving that signature around while it chases bigger orders.
