Athlon X2 BE-2350 or Sempron LE 1150
Lenovo has launched the ThinkCentre A61e, a power efficient desktop powered by AMD's low power Athlon and Sempron parts.
The green machine is tiny, and so is its power consumption, rated at a measly 45 watts. Lenovo also claims that it uses 90 percent of recyclable materials in its construction.
It's also affordable, a Sempron LE1150 powered machine with 512 MB memory, Radeon X1200 graphics, an 80 GB hard drive and a DVD-ROM is priced at $399. If you want a dual core machine you can get a BE 2350 CPU, 1GB of memory and 160GB of storage for $649. It's a pity that Lenovo didn't go for the Radeon X1250, since it has HDMI, and this would make the new ThinkCentre a much more versatile system.
A sweet little machine, great for homes, schools and even small businesses. If only it looked a bit better. It reminds us of a 1987. vintage VCR, but what the heck, retro is in, and you'll forget about its looks as soon as you get the power bill.
