Linux gets nod from Dell

Open-source OS no longer the “bogey man”



Dell’s Chief
Technical Officer, Kevin Kettler, spoke to an audience at
the LinuxWorld Conference in San Francisco and touted the benefits of
Linux’s open-source OS and its huge potential for business and consumer
applications as well as enterprise data centers.

Citing the pairing of
Linux with virtual environments as an area that Dell plans to
vigorously pursue, the Dell CTO noted that virtualization allows one
computer to run several OS at a time.  Approximately 3,000 of
Dell’s internal critical mission application servers currently run
Linux.
