IDF 2014: 6mm thin Intel slate
Michael Dell took the stage at IDF 2014 to show an edge-to-edge 8.4 inch tablet with a 2K resolution Ultra HD OLED display. Best of all, the tablet is just 6mm thin.
The Venue 8 7000 comes with a 5-megapixel Intel RealSence snapshot camera that can correct the depth on pictures and looks cool at least in demos and it looks really slick. It comes with a microSD slot and 16GB storage.
It will ship in November at an undisclosed price and it runs Android 4.4. We expect an 8-inch Nexus soon, Nvidia just started selling its 8-inch Shield Tablet, so there will be some nice stuff to choose from in this market segment.
