Software King of the World, Microsoft, is shifting Windows 11 app development back toward fully native apps.
Microsoft partner architect Rudy Huyn, who works on the Store and File Explorer, said on X he is building a new team for Windows apps.
Huyn said: “You don’t need prior experience with the platform. What matters most is strong product thinking and a deep focus on the customer. If you’ve built great apps on any platform and care about crafting meaningful user experiences, I’d love to hear from you.”
In a later reply, Huyn said the new Windows 11 apps will be “100% native,” he said.
This is happening while plenty of Microsoft tools, including Clipchamp and Copilot, lean on web tech and Progressive Web App setups.
That has fuelled years of moaning about sluggishness, memory bloat and UI quirks, so talk of native performance is getting developers’ attention.
It is still murky which apps get rebuilt and how strictly “100% native” gets policed, since some so-called native apps still lean on WebView for bits and pieces.
