John Doe suits
Microsoft has filed two lawsuits against two unknown spammers who attacked its Windows Live Hotmail network.
The lawsuits are John Doe suits which are filed against unknown spammers so that Microsoft can use the court's discovery process to get information on their identity.
One of the companies, the Consumer Solutions Network sent “misleading, deceptive, and unsolicited commercial e-mails advertising debt relief help to Windows Live Hotmail account holders.” Microsoft said.
The headers had thinks like “Michelle, accounts over the limit,” or “Robert, Payment not received,”. Another target is a pornographic spammer which were sent using Bot Nets.
