Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase 2026 was packed with sequels, returning franchises, and a surprisingly strong focus on Xbox-exclusive content, something the company has been criticized for lacking over the past few years.
One of the headline reveals was Gears of War: E-Day, which Microsoft positioned as a proper return to the series and confirmed as an Xbox console exclusive. Clockwork Revolution also remains locked to Xbox and PC, giving Microsoft a couple of major first-party titles that are not heading to rival platforms anytime soon.
Halo fans also got something new, or rather, something old made new again. Microsoft announced Halo: Campaign Evolved, a modern remake of the original Halo with updated visuals and gameplay tweaks. Fable returned with another gameplay trailer and finally received a release window, while State of Decay 3 resurfaced after going quiet for quite some time.
Third-party games still took up a large portion of the show. Persona 6 finally became official, Metro returned with Metro 2039, and Microsoft also showed trailers for Wo Long 2 and a new Spyro title. Bethesda appeared as well with fresh Doom content tied to DOOM: The Dark Ages.
Outside the games themselves, Microsoft also used the event to celebrate Xbox’s 25th anniversary with a translucent green Xbox Series X25 console and matching controller inspired by the original Xbox hardware from 2001.

Compared to some previous showcases, this year’s event felt much more focused and a lot more “Xbox.” Microsoft leaned heavily into established franchises, exclusives, and nostalgia, while still trying to position Game Pass and the broader Xbox ecosystem at the center of everything.
