Motorola releases MOTOMAGX Mobile Linux

Motorola has released its MOTOMAGX next generation mobile Linux platform.

The company has been using Linux-based platforms for some time and wants to shift 60 percent of its handset portfolio to the operating system.

According to a press release, MOTOMAGX will run the the music-optimised MOTOROKR Z6 and the Motorola RAZR2 V8 handsets. The RAZR2 V8 will be Motorola's first Linux-based device bound for North America.

MOTOMAGX supports applications developed in Java ME, and there are plans to introduce new WebUI and native Linux application environments in upcoming releases.
