50 percent stake approved
The EU has finally approved Motorola getting a 50 percent stake in Sony Ericsson.
Motorola has wanted to be half-vested partners in Sony Ericsson’s UI Holdings for some time. However, the European Union needed to approve the partnership deal.
Now, the EC has announced that it found no antitrust tie-ups with the deal and has given the go-ahead for Motorola to buy into UI Holdings. This could lead to some exciting technology coming from the two companies in 2008.
