Coming in late Q3 apparently
Amazon’s second generation Kindle Fire will feature a new screen and unlike its predecessor, it will also have a camera on board.
According to AllThingsD, the new Fire will pack a 1280×800 screen, just like Google’s Nexus 7. With 67 percent more pixels than the 1024×600 panel used in the first Kindle Fire, the new screen will significantly boost pixel density, to 216ppi to be exact. In addition, it brings a new form factor into play, as the next gen Kindle Fire will be somewhat wider than its predecessor.
Competition in the cheap and cheerful 7-inch tablet market is definitely heating up. The Nexus 7 is almost out, Amazon is planning to introduce the new Kindle Fire sometime in Q3, while Apple is rumoured to be working on a cheap iPad mini. Let’s not forget Nvidia’s Kai platform either.
