News overload
Hackers miffed
at the fact that the Iranian government didn't bother to count their votes
have started attacking the country's pro-government websites.
A small set
of official sites were first targeted but now news outlets like Raja News
are being attacked, too. Tools are available online which are being used by
opposition supporters, both inside Iran and Outside, to launch DoS attacks
to Iranian government sites, and temporarily shut the service
down.
However some Iranians are not too comfortable with the move because
they are worried about eating up the country's bandwidth which is being used
to organise the green revolution. Foreign hackers have been helping
Iranians set up proxies to by pass government firewall
restrictions.
There is some evidence that the Iranian security forces are now
setting up twitter accounts to spread disinformation by posing as Iranian
protesters. They are also hunting for people who are using Twitter. Many
foreigners are changing their location and time zone to Iran so that it
makes it harder to find real local Twitters.
