Sharp is sending 10G LCD panel's out from its plants and
it is expected that they will end up in new TVs soon.
The 10G technology is being made in Sakai City in Japan,
according to the Japanese-language magazine Nikkan. Demand for LCD TVs has been strong despite the recession
and it meant that Sharp had no problem getting second phase investment for the 10G plant.
More equipment for the second phase of installation will be installed in the in the first half of 2010, and the plant will
reach its designed monthly capacity of 72,000 substrates in mid-2010. Initial production at the plant is 36,000 substrates per
month.
10G is 70 per cent more efficient than 8G and enable the
construction of much bigger televisions at an affordable price.
