Google’s upcoming Pixel lineup might cost more than last year’s gear, according to a Dealabs report.
The report claims Google could lift the starting price of the 41mm Pixel Watch 5 to $399. Adding LTE would shove the price to $499. That would be a $50 rise from the base Pixel Watch 4, which starts at $349 for Wi-Fi and $449 for LTE.
The larger 45mm Pixel Watch 5 is rumoured to cost $429 with Wi-Fi only, or $529 with LTE. That marks a $30 increase from the previous generation.
A separate Dealabs report claims Google could fiddle with European pricing for the Pixel 11. Google may drop the lowest 128GB storage option for the Pixel 11, raising the starting price to €999 with 256GB of storage.
The Pixel 11 Pro could start at €1,199, while last year’s base Pixel 10 cost €899 with 128GB of storage. The Pixel 10 Pro started at €1,099, so the starting prices may rise even if the 256GB versions stay the same.
Another Pixel 11 leak showed slimmer bezels and an all-black camera bar. Dealabs reckons the Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold may get a €100 rise across the board. That would put their starting prices at €1,399 and €1,999, respectively.
The price rises are not much of a shock, as device makers are battling a global memory and storage shortage. AI outfits have been gobbling up memory and storage, leaving phone makers to squeeze punters or cut specs.
Several companies have already raised device prices or killed off some memory and storage versions. A previous rumour claimed the Pixel 11 could start with 8GB of RAM instead of last year’s 12GB because of the shortage.
Google is expected to show its new Pixel devices at a launch event on 12 August.
