RDNA 4 prices shuffle back down in Japan

The RDNA 4 series is finally taking its boot off gamers’ throats, at least on price.

The Radeon RX 9070 XT and its mates are seeing fresh cuts, dragging cards back towards pre-RAMpocalypse money after months of daft mark-ups.

Unlike the Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 series, demand for RDNA 4 appears to be shrinking because pricing got too greedy. Both lineups have been hit by the VRAM shortage, but once the Radeon RX 9000 series got pricier, buyers started walking away.

According to Wise, prices began creeping up in late November and early December, then peaked at the end of January 2026. In some regions, the jump hit 30 to 40 per cent, and demand dropped off a cliff right after.

Japan took the hint quickly, with GPU sales sliding as the hikes kicked in. Last month, reports said gamers were ditching the RX 9000 series, prompting AMD to shift stock at lower prices.

Now the trend lines indicate the comedown is still underway, and some cards are close to their pre-panic prices. Gazlog says the Radeon RX 9070 XT has slipped back to roughly November 2025 levels.

The RX 9070 XT is RDNA 4’s flagship, and it climbed to nearly 140,000 Yen (€768) and US$876 in January 2026.

That was about 30 to 35 per cent higher than November 2025, so it was no shock when February brought gravity back. The average now sits around 109,000 Yen (€598) and US$682, a 22 per cent drop since January 2026 and about 19 per cent month-on-month.

The cheapest listings have fallen to less than 100,000 Yen (€548), undercutting what at least one Japanese retailer was offering during last week’s spring sale.

The Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9060 XT are dropping too, and the broader AMD average has slid sharply in just two months, which is what happens when buyers refuse to play along.

Meanwhile, RTX 50 series cards have not had the same relief, with mid-range and budget options seeing prices edge up instead, because someone always has to try their luck.
