GPU pricing has done what scalpers could not and shoved a couple of favourites out of the spotlight.
When AMD’s RDNA 4 flagship launched last March, the Radeon RX 9070 XT shot to the top of Amazon’s best-selling GPUs list almost immediately, with several models piling into the top 10.
Since then, it has been a scrap between Nvidia’s RTX 5070 series and the RX 9070 XT, with both camping near the top spot for months.
That cosy little duopoly has cracked, and rising prices have knocked both upper mid-range cards out of the top 10 on Amazon US. The Radeon RX 9070 XT has been seen as high as 11th place, while the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is sitting at 19th on Amazon US.
It is not identical in every country, but the same drift is showing up across multiple Amazon stores as the two cards fade from the top spots.
The cheaper mid-range cards from the RTX 50 and RX 9000 line-ups have grabbed the prime positions because the pricier options are getting harder to justify.
On Amazon US, the RTX 5070 is now at the top and is still selling at MSRP, followed by the RTX 5060, RTX 5080, RX 9060 XT 16GB, and the RTX 5060 Ti in the top 10.
The RX 9070 XT still pops into the top 10 on Amazon Canada, but its next-closest ranking is 23rd, which is a chunky drop.
Amazon UK looks kinder to the RX 9070 XT, though it is nowhere near the number one spot, and the RTX 5070 Ti is holding up better there, too. Buyers in some regions are dodging both cards, and it is not just pricing, since availability has turned ropey at the same time.
The RTX 5070 Ti is particularly hard to find on Amazon US, and the rumour mill, muttering about Nvidia discontinuing it, will not have helped.
Meanwhile, the RX 9070 XT is now selling for $100 more than last month, pushing budget-minded shoppers towards the RTX 5070 or slower picks like the RX 9060 XT 16GB.
