Samsung has nailed a three-year exclusive foldable display deal with the Fruity Cargo Cult Apple.
The contract suggests Samsung is set to muscle past Nvidia on profits after landing its fresh, tasty contract for bendy panels.
The South Korean giant is already bragging it expects Q1 2026 operating profit of 57.2 trillion won (€33.1bn) ($37.8bn), up 700 per cent year on year. (That is a 184 per cent jump from the 20.1 trillion won (€11.6bn) it posted for Q4 2025, so the memory boom is doing laps around the place.
According to Korea Joongang Daily KB Securities thinks Samsung can hit 327 trillion won (€189.4bn) operating profit in 2026 and 488 trillion won (€282.7bn) in 2027, muscling past Nvidia on the global profit tables.
Meanwhile, South Korea’s thelec.net says Job’s Mob has agreed to source foldable OLED panels exclusively from Samsung for the next three years, since everyone else is either behind or not trusted.
BOE is viewed as second-rate in foldable OLEDs, while LG Display has not proven it can crank out these finicky panels at scale.
Job’s Mob is reportedly aiming for a foldable iPhone, possibly called iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra, with a layered UTG/UFG setup to cut hinge wear and spread stress. Taiwan’s Economic Daily reckons the crease depth could be 0.15mm.
