Apple model a long way off
A Samsung executive has confirmed that the company will unveil a new smartwatch called the Galaxy Gear, at an event next week.
Lee Young-hee, executive vice president of Samsung Mobile said that the device will be based on Android and feature a “non-flexible” display. While it obviously a watch, Lee dubs he the Galaxy Gear a “wearable concept device.” He said that Samsung was “confident that the Gear will add meaningful momentum to the mobile industry.”
The watch comes out long before a much hyped model which Apple apparently “invented.” This means that even if it fails it has acted as a spoiler for whatever Jobs’ Mob comes out with. However if wearable computing takes off then it means that Samsung has already in the advance guard of the technology.
