Sugar Bay platform
Intel has
been the cash sugar daddy these days, and when it comes to future plans, it all
looks quite bright. The only thing that can mess up Intel’s new core 32nm Sandy
Bridge architecture is the Bulldozer from AMD, but we still have to see it to believe
it.
Intel’s
consumer desktop platform based on Sandy Bridge is codenamed Sugar Bay. The key
elements of this platform are Sandy Bridge CPU with graphics and Intel 6 series
chipset. The CPU that will also fit in some all-in-one systems or small form
factor machines is targeted to have 65W TDP with performance optimised quad-core, with Intel graphics.
Even in
this market segment, Intel wants to continue with mainstream overclocking.
The platform should be ready to
roll in Q1 2011.
