Sapphire’s RX 9070 XT Nitro+ keeps getting named and shamed on Reddit over its overheating 16 pin cards.
Fresh reports keep popping up every few weeks, and the Nitro+ seems to account for most of the burnt-connector chatter.
Only two RX 9070 XT cards use the notorious 16-pin power plug, and both have been linked to multiple connector burn incidents.
One Redditor is already on their second return. Reddit user u/ProfessionalHost3913, who previously reported a burnt 16-pin on a Nitro+, is filing another RMA, this time for different grief.
They said they paid shipping and insurance on the first card, but credited Sapphire for a quick replacement.
That replacement then turned up scratched like it had lived a hard life, but the user ran it anyway and found performance that would make a budget card blush.
The first GPU scored nearly 26,000 in 3DMark Time Spy, while the replacement only managed 19,000, so another RMA is now on the cards.
A second Reddit user says they hit the same wall on the same day. Reddit user u/WozzerBo reported a burnt 16-pin power connector on the Sapphire RX 9070 XT Nitro+ with the classic top-row burn pattern.
They said VRAM temperatures were running high, then claimed the company sent the same unit back without repair and messed with a red-painted screw.
Reddit user WozzerBoi said, “They refused to RMA and lied about it being tampered with, and then when I made a complaint and took it further up the company, they sided with themselves over me and dismissed the complaint”
Now the row is not just about melting connectors, it is about vendors dodging RMAs with the sort of blame-the-user routine that never looks good in daylight.
