Qualcomm’s next flagship is leaking like a busted radiator. A fresh rumour drops two model numbers, SM8975 and SM8950, said to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.
If the leak holds, both chips land on TSMC’s 2nm process, which would be Qualcomm’s first run on that node.
Qualcomm’s current top part, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, is built on 3nm, so 2nm would be more than a lazy rebadge.
The leaker angle comes from Weibo, with “Digital Chat Station” being waved around as the source of the model number chatter.
A 2nm shift is not just about raw pace; it can mean cooler running and lower power draw, which matters when phones are hammered by games or video editing.
The Fruity Cargo Cult Apple has its A18 and A18 Pro on TSMC 3nm, so Qualcomm jumping to 2nm would look like it has moved the process goalposts first.
Node bragging rights do not guarantee a better handset without decent architecture, software tuning and thermals.
Database model numbers do not tell you how the silicon behaves when the battery is sweating and the chassis is roasting.
