T-Mobile is launching symmetrical 5Gbps home fibre for $90 (€80.24) a month, with a ten-year price guarantee and the usual exclusions. The service becomes available on 3 November in selected US locations. The advertised price requires AutoPay and excludes taxes and fees.
Customers get matching upload and download speeds, making the connection useful for large backups and households sharing substantial bandwidth. It should comfortably accommodate several people simultaneously, so the internet shouldn’t be slow. The service uses fibre directly to the home. Despite the T-Mobile branding, this is a fixed fibre connection, so performance does not depend on finding a convenient mobile signal beside the kitchen window.
T-Mobile includes a Wi-Fi router, professional installation and unlimited data without an annual contract. A mesh extender is available for households that need one. The operator says customers don’t need a mobile subscription to get its best fibre pricing. Apparently, buying broadband can occasionally involve buying only broadband.
Its ten-year guarantee covers the internet data price. Taxes, fees, voluntary equipment or speed upgrades, selected promotions and third-party services fall outside the promise. Network management practices are excluded too. A decade is a long time in telecoms, so reading the qualifications remains a sensible alternative to admiring the headline.
T-Mobile chief commercial officer Andre Almeida presents the plan as capacity for increasingly connected households. Getting the full benefit on an individual device will still require suitable networking equipment. Alongside the flagship service, the company is advertising a 300Mbps plan at $35 (€31.21) a month and a 1Gbps option at $55 (€49.04), both with AutoPay plus taxes and fees.
Its 2Gbps tier costs $70 (€62.41) a month on the same payment basis. The lower-tier promotional prices and offers vary by location. For a limited time, qualifying 5Gbps customers can receive two months free through bill credits and $300 (€267.47) in virtual prepaid cards within 14 weeks.
Availability remains address-dependent. Customers must check their location, applicable pricing and offer eligibility through T-Mobile’s fibre website.
