Another dinky notebook

Gizmodo has scored some detailed information on Dell's upcoming Inspiron 910 which is yet another netbook based on the Atom N270 processor. It does have a few interesting features and it looks like it'll give Asus and the Eee PC a good run for its money.

It will be available with either 512MB or 1GB or RAM, and it looks like there will be SKU's with 4, 8 and 16GB SSD options. It will also come with a selection of wireless options and it has two card slots, one for WiFi and Bluetooth and a second one labelled WWAN, which suggests 3G or WiMAX options. It might even be possible to use the WWAN card slot for some other type of add-on cards, as it's a standard Mini card slot.

Other features includes a 1,024x600 8.9in display (no surprises there), although it appears to be LED backlit which would help improve the battery life from the paltry 4-cell battery, although Dell is offering two different 4-cell solutions, with the basic model being 2.2Ahr and the better model being 2.6Ahr.

Port wise, you're looking at three USB 2.0 ports, a D-sub connector, an Ethernet port, a headphone and a mic jack and a multi-format memory card reader. There's also an option for a 0.3 or 1.3Megapixel Webcam.

Dell will ship the Insipiron 910 with either Windows XP or Ubuntu 8.04. Gizmodo claims that the Inspiron 910 will launch on the 22nd of August, but they haven't managed to verify the pricing as yet.
