Talks Ion, plans to invest more in R&D

In an
interview with Venturebeat, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang talked about the PC market of the future, netbooks, the Ion platform, and of course, weathering the economic storm.

He claims Nvidia isn't worried by the economic downturn, saying it's a great time to recruit people, as he plans to invest even more in R&D. Huang sees a lot of potential in GPU computing, and claims Nvidia is miles ahead of AMD in the field.

He also talked about Ion, and Intel's Atom bundling policies. With Nvidia's Ion still hanging in the air, Huang seems optimistic that Intel will eventually allow vendors to use Ion with its Atom CPUs. When asked if Apple could break the ice and be the first to launch an Ion based product, Huang just said: "Apple gets what Apple wants." However, he is concerned the rest of the market doesn't have as much clout as Apple, and can't force Intel to change its policies.

Jen-Hsun had quite a few interesting things to say about AMD and Intel, and you can find the full interview here.
