Another consumer brand to be gobbled up?

Cisco has been busy buying up various consumer brands over the past few years with Kiss (connected DVD players) Linksys and a few other brands having ended up under the control of Cisco. Now it seems like the giant has set its eyes on Pure Digital Inc.

Pure Digital Inc got famous with its Flip Video camcorders which have become widely popular due to their ease of use and sharing of video via YouTube and MySpace. Recently the company also added a HD capable version called the Flip Video HD.

TechCrunch is now reporting that Cisco is interested in taking over the reins, although it seems like there are still some details that are unclear in this matter, although one of their sources is saying that "it's a done deal" and that Cisco has paid up over US$500 million for Pure Digital.

So far this is only a rumour, but hopefully it should all become clear later this week.
