Track Pack DLC expensive to produce

Turn 10 claims car packs simply in higher demand

After the recent release of the Nurburgring downloadable track for Forza 3, developer Turn 10 set out to make sure that players knew the difference between producing tracks for downloadable content versus cars. Simply put, the car packs are in higher demand and they cost less to produce.

The reason that they cost so much less is that in order to produce a track for Forza 3, the process starts with flying a team out to the track where pictures, GPS data and real time laps can be recorded for use in the development of a track for the game. The problem is that there are just so many elements to produce when adding a track versus doing a car pack, as the car pack is apparently a more straight forward process.

So, while the studio does not suggest that this will be the last track offered for Forza 3, despite the many requests that they get for additional tracks, players need to keep in mind that it does cost a lot to produce a track; so if players want to support the development of more tracks, we have to suggest that they buy the Nurburgring Grand Prix Circuit DLC, as it is only 400 points. If it sells well, we might see more tracks; but if it doesn’t, we have to admit that Turn 10 will likely stick to the cars.

If you do purchase the Nurburgring Grand Prix Circuit DLC, you should know that Turn 10 has turned on the time trial for this track, and if you can manage to get in the top 10 or top 100 before noon today you will get a gift car and credits. Everyone that buys the track and puts a time in the time trial mode before noon today will get two special cars gifted to them, which are a 2009 BMW M5 Nurburgring fantasy Safety Car and a 2008 Mercedes Benz C-Class Touring Car. Not a bad deal, if we say so ourselves.
