Over 2+ million have downloaded the demo

Developer DICE
and publisher Electronic Arts have good reason to be encouraged about the release of the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company 2. The number of users on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms that have downloaded the demo version have exceeded over 2 million downloads in the first five days of it being available.  According to sources, this makes it one of the fastest downloaded demos ever.

In addition to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 players, the PC players who are testing a beta version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 have answered the call to participate. DICE says that “hundreds of thousands” of PC players are testing the beta version of the upcoming release.

The numbers combine to reach an incredible total of over 2.5+ million that are playing BFBC2, and the game has not even been released yet. This news has to brighten the day for those at DICE and EA who are watching this release very closely. Early indications from our sources also suggest that pre-orders are doing well for the title across all three platforms, which could spell a blockbuster release for DICE and EA.

While the game is still on target for release on March 2nd for North America and March 4th for Europe, it looks that in the meantime players will have to make do with what the demo and the beta have to offer. It is certain that DICE is watching the both the Demo and Beta closely to apply additional tweaks that can be ready upon release. Many are anxious to see what kind of experience BFBC2 can offer, after getting a taste of the Battlefield experience from the 1943 download-only release that came out last year.
