Sources keep talking to us about the potential of BioShock and what 2K Games could do with that title. Now, according to our sources, Take-Two has apparently green lighted the development of a new MMO title to be based around BioShock.

According to our mole, there is a lot that has not been decided, such as what this BioShock MMO will be all about or what timeframe in the BioShock universe this will take place. Still, the decision to move in this direction has been made and according to what we are told, development is already moving forward.

Take-Two spoke of the value of the BioShock franchise back in 2008 and even dropped a hint or two that the potential was there for a BioShock MMO. Our sources suggest that Take-Two has wanted to get into a more serious role as a MMO publisher but has yet to find the right type of MMO vehicle to do so. While some have suggested that an MMO version of Grand Theft Auto might be interesting, we suspect that BioShock might present a lot to work with and be more popular long-term. We have to think that is why they are moving forward.
