Actually, players still playing Halo2 online

Apparently, Microsoft has yet to pull the plug on the Xbox Live support for the original Xbox, which has extended the play time for those trying to get in their last games of Halo 2, Battlefront 2 and Crimson Skies. The Xbox Live Operations Team admitted that the plug had not yet been pulled, but that April 15th was the last day. There is no last-minute change in plans; the plug is going to get pulled.

While Microsoft is talking about the necessary reasons to do this, it is rooted in the fact that it is necessary in order to upgrade the Xbox Live service itself. The company has yet to explain what new enhancements will be a part of ditching Xbox Live support for the original Xbox.

Our sources suggest that the friends limit will be increased to pass 100 and will likely be one of the first enhancements that will come to Xbox Live. The same mole suggests that they do have a plan and some special announcements around Xbox Live enhancements will be announced at E3 as part of an upcoming Summer Update, which is said to be in the works.
