In a move that has been brewing for some time, the release of Fallout: New Vegas will be the first game that will have totally unique pre-order packs that are retailer specific. What this means is that where you choose to pre-order New Vegas from will determine which of the four pre-order packs you will get.

What we know for sure is that all of the packs will contain a special outfit, a special weapon and additional equipment. The Caravan Pack will go to those who pre-order though Steam or Wal-Mart. GameStop pre-order buyers will get the Classic Pack. Those that choose Best Buy will get the Mercenary Pack. If you prefer to order online than Amazon might be your choice with the Tribal Pack.

If you choose to pre-order from a retailer not listed, it is currently unknown which pack you will get, as we understand the default pack has yet to be determined. Right now as we understand it, the pre-orders from the above retailers only cover those in North America; sources tell us that while the packs will be the same four, the retailers will be different outside North America, of course.
